I am a very ordinary girl, born in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, China, an ancient town, although I left home at a very young age to go out to study and work, but there is always a sense of attachment and reluctance to my hometown. I went back to my hometown to visit my relatives during the National Day’s holiday this year, and I accidentally found a century-old silk velvet flower handmade workshop in a village near my home. The environment and facilities of the workshop were very simple, but I was deeply shocked by the exquisite craftsmanship of the female workers in the workshop. An ordinary silk thread, through their clever hands, can gradually bloom a lot of gorgeous flowers and a bird, insect, fish, butterfly, which has been given life again ……

Nowadays, this small workshop hidden in the remote countryside of the city has long since lost its prosperity at the end of the last century. With the high development of the city and technology, such slow and meticulous craftsmanship has gradually been forgotten by most people. Many workers are forced to leave one after another to make a living. The inheritors of the traditional silk velvet flower production process are also becoming increasingly rare. I feel a little regret. But I know that this is not only the culture of my hometown and China, but also the culture of the world. I hope to make use of this platform, so that more people can feel the beauty of the traditional culture of silk velvet flower handmade art. Velvet flower, in China, the harmonic sound is ‘Ronghua荣华’, meaning prosperity and eminence.

I wish all my friends can be ‘Ronghua荣华’ prosperous, happy and auspicious!
